Brewer's Sparrow Photo

Is it or isn't it?  This guy popped up out of the brush on September 30th, 2006 in Lake County, near Madison.  I got one quick shot before he dove back in the brush, and I never saw him again.  As for ID...I'm pretty sure it's a Brewer's, but not 100%.  Brewer's would be pretty darn unusual for this part of the state, and the more obvious explanation would be Clay-colored Sparrow.  However, the features visible on this photo fit a Brewer's much better.  I feel better about the ID in that Jay Carlisle, who had been banding fall Brewer's and Clay-colored, sent me a note saying he thought it was a Brewer's, and even included photos of a Brewer's, Clay-colored, and Chipping, all in hand while being banded.

So there you go.  Brewer's Sparrow.  At least until somebody else tells me otherwise.  ;-)
