Western Meadowlark Photos

My Favorite: I still don't know why I suddenly took such an interest in birds and photography back in 2000, as I'd never shown any interest in either up to that point. However, even before then, I was well aware of the singing of Meadowlarks. Growing up in Nebraska, I loved to fish, and every time I hear a Meadowlark singing, it brings me back to those days, lounging on the banks of a creek, casually fishing and hearing Meadowlarks singing around me. It's still such a treat to hear them for the first time each spring. This photo of a singing Western Meadowlark is from May 28th, 2010 in Minnehaha County, South Dakota.
