Gobbling Wild Turkeys

This was a pretty birdless day.  I drove down to Yankton hoping to find Bald Eagles or gulls or SOMETHING below Gavin's Point Dam.  I didn't find much, and given how birdless much of the countryside is here during the dead of winter, I wasn't expected much on the way home.  Along the James River outside of Yankton, however, I came across this group of Wild Turkeys quite close to the road, going out of their way to try and impress a nearby group of females.  One of these fools would start gobbling, and within a 1/10th of a second, all the others would simultaneously join in.   I snapped this photo in "mid-gobble".

Photo taken on February 18th, 2007 near Yankton, South Dakota.
