Surfbird

A species I'd never seen until December 2008, when I found several working the rocky shoreline west of San Francisco.  Very neat to see them workign the rocks, oblivious of the crashing waves, and thankfully, oblivious to the South Dakota guy doing his best to navigate the slippery rocks without getting washed out to sea!  Taken in December 2008 in San Francisco.
