We've had a couple of family vacations in Arizona, and have just loved it. Our favorite place is a bed-and-breakfast on the outskirts of Tucson. They have their own 40+ acres of Sonoran Desert habitat, with some truly massive Saguaro cacti. I've tried this type of a shot a few times, but had never really been all that happy with the results. This morning was different, thanks to some wonderful lighting, and some great whispy cloudys covering the sky. The sky ended up making all the difference in the world in terms of the feel of the shot, as it really provided some depth behind the beautiful old saguaro itself.
