Ruddy Duck Drake

In some ways, I hesitate to refer to a male Ruddy Duck with the formality of the term "Drake".  These guys are just SO comical sometimes to watch, a perception that is no doubt assisted by their stiff uprigth tail and almost comically-colored bill in breeding plumage.  But, these guys really ARE quite beautiful...so unique, and one of my favorites.  This photo was taken in western Minnehaha County in March of 2007.
