Gyrfalcon in Flight

Another Gyrfalcon for my favorites page.  How could I NOT have such a gorgeous bird out here, especially since these guys are one of the things that really stoked the flames for passion in birds and bird photography when I first started.  This was taken on the Fort Pierre National Grasslands, as just about all my Gyrfalcon photos (and sightings).   This young bird (a juvenile Gyrfalcon) was actively harassing/hunting some pheasants, circling around a general area.  He made one pass nearly overhead, when I clicked like mad to try to capture as many photos as possible.  I was beyond thrilled with the results, as this is the kind of photo of a Gyr that I've always dreamed of getting.
