Great Gray Owl

I'd never seen a Great Gray Owl before the big owl invasion of Northern Minnesota in the winter of 2004-2005.  I've never seen one since.  But, I certainly got a lifetime supply of viewing during the 1 1/2 day trip I took to Sax-Zim bog that winter, seeing over 50 of these guys!  These are two of my favorite photos of them.  It was snowing lightly the morning these were taken, and it was just perfectly silent as I watched the bottom bird on the top of a spruce.  Later, as the sun brook through, I caught the guy in top photo.

Photo taken on December 14th, 2004 in Sax-Zim Bog, Minnesota.
