When you see a Gray Catbird, very often, it's a glimpse of a bird in the foliage, and you get the impression of a plain gray bird. It's not until you get a good view of the undertail coverts and black cap that you see what is really (to me) a very elegant, and beautiful bird. This one is foraging on a sumac branch in the Big Sioux Recreation Area in South Dakota.
