My family loves the Yellowstone area. We seem to end up there every 2 or 3 years for vacation, and between the scenery, wildlife, and geothermal features, it never disappoints.
We've seen our share of Black Bears, a few Grizzlies, but other than a rather heart-thumping experience on a trail once with a Black Bear (another story), never a really great, intimate view and experience with a bear. We were driving through Grand Teton National Park in 2007 when we saw this guy moving through a large sagebrush flat. Not a habitat they're really known to frequent much, so we think he was just moving through. He was definitely shy and didn't want to cross the road, but that gave us a nice, long look at him as he meandered in and around the sagebrush flat and along the road for quite some time.
