The one large mammal you can almost certainly count on seeing, and getting close to in Yellowstone National Park, is the American Bison. They're certainly not shy, but then again if you were as large and powerful as they are, you wouldn't have a reason to be shy either. I have a lot of photos of them in Yellowstone, but this is my favorite. When I think of Bison in Yellowstone, I think of the large grassy or sagebrush flats in the Lamar Valley (where this was taken), so this photo to me captures the essence of what it's like to see Bison in the park.
