Wow, great quiz. This took me a long time, and I’m still not sure that I am right. My guess is Rose-breasted Grosbeak. I was all over the place on this (Greyish Saltator, Five-striped/Black-throated Sparrows, a brief consideration of female grackles…). Good quiz, now I can’t wait to see if I’m right.
Whoops, forgot to post the whole-bird photo and update as I put in the new quiz. Will do that later. The answer is indeed a female Rose-breasted Grosbeak.
