This page is devoted to bird and nature artwork. I used to draw some in high school and college, so after a break of, oh, 20 years, I started drawing again around Christmas of 2011. After only drawing in black-and-white before, I decided to do justice to the beautiful plumage of birds, I needed to try color. My medium for all of the drawings below is colored pencil.
Note the drawings I post out here are simply for your viewing, as I currently do not sell my work. I don't have very many drawings yet!! It would be like parting with my first born!! Maybe when I get more of a collection together I will start selling some of my work.
Note: The background images are the work of John Gould (1804-1881). Gould was an ornithologist and prolific artist. He worked with Charles Darwin, work that is referenced in Darwin's landmark On the Origin of Species. He was fascinated by hummingbirds, and the prints in the background image are some of Gould's renowned hand-colored lithographs on hummingbird species. If you haven't seen some of his hummingbird prints, they are truly gorgeous.
